Dr. Pierre Woolley
Dr. Pierre-Marie Woolley is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon with specialized expertise in pelvic and acetabular surgery, nonunions, complex trauma reconstruction, and disaster management. He serves as Professor and Clinical Researcher in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Notre Dame School of Medicine in Haiti (UNDH) and as Co-Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics at Hôpital Universitaire de la Paix in Port-au-Prince.
Dr. Woolley is also the Medical Director for Orthopaedic Surgical Missions in Peru with Scalpel at the Cross Ministries, a registered 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to delivering advanced surgical care in the Peruvian Amazon. Through this role, he leads and coordinates high-complexity orthopaedic procedures while prioritizing collaboration with local surgeons to ensure sustainability, education, and long-term impact.
As a global clinician-scientist, Dr. Woolley is deeply committed to developing sustainable, locally driven solutions in low- and middle-income countries through education, research, and structured knowledge transfer. His work emphasizes capacity building, resident and surgeon training, and the integration of evidence-based orthopaedic care in resource-limited settings.
In addition to his academic and clinical leadership, Dr. Woolley remains actively involved in multiple Christian nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing orthopaedic care and medical education for underserved populations in Haiti, Peru, Malawi, and beyond. He has been involved with Haiti Team Challenge (HTC) for over a decade—initially serving as an educator in emergency medicine and supporting students pursuing higher education in healthcare—and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors.
