MATTHIEU'S STORY

Picture
Life had no meaning. I was a vagabond, and I did not think I had any value. My life was filled with chaos and people where afraid of me.  I felt no love for anyone. I did not know why I was even alive.

I came into Haiti Teen Challenge, and discovered that my life was valuable to God. Through the direction given to me, I became a different person.  I saw myself with new eyes as I spent time in the word of God.  I learned to love my family and a passion grew within me to help young people gain a new understanding that it is not their neighborhood that makes them who they are, but they are the ones who make their neighborhood what it is.

After I graduated from HTC I went back to my community.  I did not want to return to the life I led before. As my family and friends spent time with me they said they saw how different I was and how I had become a unique leader. That really encouraged me to continue to accept responsibility and make a difference.

I choose to serve my country.  I graduated from PUMA Security and now I am helping to bring protection, justice and freedom to those I serve.  As a Supervisor I oversee other police officers, and I am also an Intervention Officer.  In my community people now tell me they can count on me, trust me and respect me because I am honest and I am working to improve their lives.

Thank you for supporting me and giving me the opportunity to gain the skills to help bring peace and hope to my nation.
