“My name is Erode Delson. I was born and raised in Fort Mercredi. I was brought up in a very strict but loving environment. I was always encouraged to stay in school and to work towards a better future. In my downtime, I learned how to become a tailor.
In 2013, I transferred to a new school where I became associated with young men versed in causing trouble, starting protests, drinking, and abusing women. I would occasionally skip school to hang out with these friends and drink. I would sometimes get so drunk that I would pass out. Sex and alcohol ruled my life. I regarded women as objects and would physically abuse them. I had toxic behavior. In June 2022, I received a job offer to sew school uniforms for an orphanage. Unfortunately, on the day I was supposed to sign the work contract, I was so intoxicated that they could not give me the job. This was the shock I needed to realize that I was destroying my life. I wanted to change. I met Carlos, an HTC graduate, who talked to me about the program and how he believed it could change my life as it had changed his. On February 6, 2023, I joined the HTC program. The first months were quite difficult for me. Being separated from all my addictions affected me both mentally and physically. The Bible classes, however, started to affect my life slowly yet positively. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior on May 14, 2023 (my birthday). I subsequently got baptized and am filled with the Spirit of truth to correct, guide, and show me how to live a godly life. To anyone reading my story today, know this: no matter the addictions you are dealing with, God wants to save you. I want to thank Him because He took me from the ash heap of alcoholism, sex, and toxic behaviors, and placed me amongst the saved, including my HTC and RVC brothers and sisters." |
