Nerlande Coicou, Women's Program Director Nerlande has a degree in Applied Sciences in Civil Engineering. Most of her previous experience is in the field of management of construction work of various types. She worked for G&L Construction, SETAM, ARTECA and was a consultant in civil engineering for a USAID project under DAI.
She felt rewarded by being able to contribute to the reconstruction of the destroyed irrigation system after Hurricane Jeanne hit the Northwest region of Haiti. She will never forget the way one of the team members thanked her for the humanity with which she dealt with him in his work. In a career of almost 50 years no one had treated him with such respect and kindness. She realized helping in the construction of a building is one thing, but helping to build a life is something quite different and amazing! Serving at Haiti Teen Challenge changed her life's path and career plan entirely. Her greatest dream is to have a long life, in order to be able to work, and through her work, offer hope to future generations.
